Students can stay in Türkiye for three months with their visas. However, they should apply for Residence Permit for longer stays. All international students should visit the Trabzon Directorate of Migration Management within one month upon their arrival in Trabzon. Students should apply for Residence Permit for their period of study in Türkiye as it is specified in their visas and they are supposed to carry their Residence Permit document with them during their time in Türkiye.
International students residing in a different country must apply for residence permit within the borders of the Republic of Türkiye for the first time.
Health Insurance
International students who have come or will arrive in our country will have to obtain the Social Security Institution General Health Insurance (GSS) during their registration at the university. Students will pay the necessary premiums to the Social Security Institution and submit the GSS document to the responsible officials at universities by adding it to their school registration and residence application files.
Health Services
International Students can benefit from the basic health services offered at the Medical-Social Center within the KTU Directorate of Health, Sports and Culture.
When emergency medical intervention is required, emergency health care is provided without questioning the insurance.

After graduation
Turkish laws allow students who graduate from Turkish higher education institutions to get a one-year-long residence permit, which could be used as an opportunity to seek for a job in Türkiye. To get this type of residence permit, students need to apply for a short-term residence permit within six months after graduation under the "those who graduated from a Turkish university" category.
Work Permit Exemptions
Researchers who will be employed within research projects are exempted (up to two years) from the work permit. These individuals (students or post-doc researchers) can apply for the work permit exemption by themselves without waiting for their residence permit to be issued.
