Our University Received Support Under TÜBİTAK KAMAG 1007 Program
Within the scope of TÜBİTAK KAMAG 1007 Public Institutions Research and Development Projects Support Programme ‘Development of Specialised Women's Guesthouses Service Model’ call for which T.R. Ministry of Family and Social Services is the client organisation, the project titled ‘A Specialised Approach in Women's Guesthouses Services: Efficient Integration with Empowerment and Effective Support - TRUST’ was supported.
The introductory meeting of the project was held at the Rectorate Senate Hall of our University with an intense participation. Trabzon Governor Aziz YILDIRIM, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, Trabzon University Rector Prof. Dr. Emin AŞIKKUTLU, Avrasya University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz ÖZORAN, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Dr. Hüseyin MOLLAOĞLU, our Vice Rectors; Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk URSAVAŞ and Prof. Dr. Ali TEMİZ and the researchers involved in the project attended the meeting.
The project aims to develop a specialised service model that can better respond to the needs of women and children who are victims of violence by increasing the quality and effectiveness of services provided in women's shelters in Turkey. It also aims to create a service model specific to Türkiye by making use of international good practice examples.
Within the scope of the project, multidimensional data such as socio-demographic characteristics, experiences of violence and health status of individuals benefiting from women's guesthouses will be analysed to determine their needs profiles, the current situation of women's guesthouses across Türkiye will be examined and recommendations will be presented to improve service quality. International best practice examples will be examined in detail and a specialisation model suitable for Türkiye will be developed. A comprehensive training programme will be prepared for the staff of women's guesthouses, covering topics such as domestic violence, crisis management and legal support, and a digital training and implementation platform will be created to ensure the sustainability of these trainings. In addition, short, medium and long term action plans will be prepared and implemented to increase the capacity of women's guesthouses.
The project will be carried out with 22 researchers from 9 different universities under the management of Prof. Dr. Hatice ODACI from Karadeniz Technical University and the execution of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ozan SELÇUK from Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. The project, with a total budget of 9.2 million TL, will be completed in 30 months.
