KTU Leads New International Biodiversity Project for the Black Sea Region

We are pleased to announce that the project titled “Raising Awareness for the Black Sea People to Recognize and Protect Black Sea Biodiversity (BIOBLACK) – BSB00794”, led by Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) and represented by our department’s faculty member Prof. Dr. Hacer SAĞLAM, has been awarded funding under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.

BIOBLACK aims to strengthen public awareness and conservation efforts for the rich biodiversity of the Black Sea. The project will introduce native, invasive, and endangered species to stakeholders across Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania through interactive 3D visuals, educational resources, and the innovative BLACKPYRAMID mobile application. By fostering public engagement and environmental stewardship, the project supports biodiversity protection through both local action and international collaboration.
