Objective:

The European Rare Disease Research Alliance (ERDERA) Partnership, supported under the Horizon Europe Programme Health Cluster, aims to improve the health and well-being of 30 million people diagnosed with rare diseases by making Europe a world leader in rare disease research and innovation. With this Partnership, it is aimed to create a multi-stakeholder rare disease ecosystem based on health research data, with the potential to lead the digital transformation change in rare disease research and innovation by developing new diagnostic and treatment pathways.

Who Can Apply?

Organisations that can apply;

  • Universities,
  • Education and Research Hospitals
  • Public institutions and organisations,
  • Capital companies (private organisations) resident in Turkey that create added value at company level regardless of sector and size and have a Trade Registry Certificate

Project coordinators;

  • If they are university staff, they must have a doctorate / specialisation in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine / proficiency in art degree.
  • If they work in public institutions or private organisations, it is sufficient to have at least four years of university undergraduate education.
  • - They must be permanent/full-time staff (excluding pensioners and postdoctoral researchers not working in any institution/organisation) of the institution (higher education institutions, public institutions or private organisations) where the project will be carried out.

Budget:

The contribution requested from TÜBİTAK within the scope of a project, excluding Institutional Share and Project Incentive Bonus (PTI);

  • 250.000 EUR per project,

Per executing organisation;

  • EUR 125.000 for higher education institutions, training and research hospitals and public institutions and organisations,
  • For private organisations, it cannot exceed EUR 250,000.

Features of the Programme:

  • The call will be supported within the framework of TÜBİTAK 1071 Programme rules. Click here for detailed information.
  • Project proposals to be submitted under the ERDERA 2025 Call may include the following research topics

o Development of preclinical therapies using cell, organoid or animal models

o Biomarker identification associated with therapeutic efficacy

o Preclinical proof-of-concept studies demonstrating pharmacological activity and safety data

o Replication of preclinical studies in an independent laboratory

o Supportive studies for the initiation of clinical research authorisation

  • 1st Stage applications submitted to TUBITAK will be analysed by TUBITAK according to national eligibility criteria. 
  • Only transnational projects will be funded.
  • Each consortium submitting a proposal must include four to six eligible principal investigator partners from at least four different participating countries. One of these four to six partners must be an Early Career Researcher (ECR).  Each consortium cannot have more than two eligible partners from the same country. Patient advocacy organisations (PAOs) requesting funding are not included in the total number. Click here for the English text of the call.
