Establishment

According to the regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 08.09.1975 and entered into force, "Providing higher education in the field of Landscape Architecture as a department within the KTU Faculty of Forestry was deemed appropriate and accepted by the KTU Senate." Accordingly, starting from the 1976-1977 academic year, the newly established Faculty "students will be admitted to this 3rd department." decision was made. However, approximately 13 years after this date, the Department of Landscape Architecture started education within the KTÜ Faculty of Forestry in the 1990-1991 academic year. For the first time, students who completed the four-year undergraduate program in 1994 were given the title of Landscape Architect. graduated.

KTÜ Department of Landscape Architecture is the first department established within the scope of a technical university in Turkey, and this has been an effective factor in the formation of the identity of the department. Although it was not established within the Faculty of Architecture, it has achieved a new and different line for our country by starting education at a 'Technical University' Campus that also includes the Department of Architecture; The fact that the university is a campus university has enabled the department to easily receive support from other faculties and departments, especially the Faculty of Architecture.

Today, the teaching approach supported by various fields such as Architecture, Forest Engineering, Forest Industrial Engineering Departments and the Faculty of Fine Arts continues. The department consists of Landscape Planning and Design, Plant Breeding and Materials and Landscape Techniques Departments.
