A: Electronic registration (e-Registration) completed through e-Government Gateway is a final registration. Students who make this registration do not need to come to the University and bring any documents.

Course Registration and Advisor Approval
Q: Is it compulsory to register for courses?
A: It is necessary to register for the courses within the period specified in the academic calendar and have your advisor approve the courses you have taken within the add-and-drop period.
Q: Can I take courses from next semesters?
A: No, you cannot.
Q: What is the maximum course load that I can take in a semester?
A: The maximum course load in a semester cannot exceed 40 hours, except for those who are in the last year of their maximum education period and students who can graduate at the end of that semester on the ground that they have taken all the courses.
Q: What do you mean by the 1.80-grade point threshold?
A: At the end of the fourth semester, undergraduate students whose GPA is below 1.80 cannot take courses from the next semesters. Students in this situation are required to take the courses they failed again and increase their GPA to at least 1.80.
Q: What is the 1.00-grade point threshold?
A: At the end of the second semester, associate students whose GPA is below 1.00 cannot take courses from the third and fourth semesters. Associate students who cannot meet this requirement repeat the courses they failed in the previous semester.
Tuition Fee Payment

Q: I am enrolled in a Second University. Do I have to pay a contribution?
A: In case of registering in a second higher education program (except for the double major program) while registering in higher education program, students need to pay the student contribution fees for the second higher education program themselves.
Internal and External Transfer- Adjustment
Q: I want to transfer with the central placement score, what should I do? Where can I find information about the application period and time?
A: Please apply to KTU Student Affairs with your petition attached to the LYS Exam result document within the period specified in the Academic Calendar.
Q: Could you give information about the internal transfer?
A: Transfer application conditions and dates are announced in the Announcements on the KTU Student Affairs website.
Q: What are the procedures for adjustments of external transfer students?
A: The adjustment commissions of the Departments perform the evaluation of the students who are registered with the external transfer exam and submit their transcripts and course contents to Student Affairs.
Q: I enrolled in the University through the external transfer exam. At which grade will I start my education?
A: The class that students will start is determined according to the exempted courses by the adjustment commissions.
Student Exchange Programs (Farabi, Erasmus, Mevlana)

Q: Which grading system is applied at KTU?
A: The KTU Senate has decided to apply a norm-referenced evaluation system in the courses where the number of students exceeds 10 and the criterion-referenced evaluation system in the courses where the number of students is below 10 in the evaluation of success grades.

Q: For how many courses can I take the Make-Up Exam?
A: At the end of each semester, students can take make-up exams from all courses they have taken that semester.
Q: What is the requirement to take the Make-Up Exam?
A: It is necessary to register to the relevant courses in the academic year in which the exams will be held and to meet the requirements for taking the final exam for these courses to take the make-up exam.
Q: How is the make-up exam assessed?
A: It is required to get at least 45 points out of 100 in the make-up exam. A letter grade is determined by taking into account the percentages of the midterm, midterm studies, and make-up exam grades. Students are considered successful or unsuccessful in the courses for which they received a DC letter grade in the make-up exam, based on their semester grade point average.
Q: For how many courses can I take the Graduation Exam?
A: Students who registered at our University before the 2012-2013 academic year can take the graduation exam for 3 courses and those who registered after the relevant academic year can take the exam for 1 course.
Q: How is the graduation exam assessed?
A: To succeed in the graduation exam, it is required to get at least 50 points out of 100. The grade obtained in the exam replaces the lettered success grade of that course in the relevant semester but is not included in the semester average. In addition, midterm studies are not included in the evaluation. Grades taken in the graduation exam are evaluated according to the criterion-referenced evaluation system. According to this, when students have received a DC letter grade (passing grade: 50-59) in the graduation exam, their grade point average of the semester needs to be 2.00 and above to be considered successful. On the other hand, they are considered unsuccessful in the courses if their grade point average of the semester in which the course is taken is below 2.00 when students have received a DC letter grade (passing grade: 50-59) in the graduation exam.
Q: How can I object to the exam results?
A: You can apply to the Head of the relevant Department within the periods specified in the Academic Calendar.
Q: I can't see my midterm results. What can I do?
A: After your grade is submitted by your instructor, it must be approved. Unapproved grades are not visible to the student.

A: The information of students whose citizenship number is not in the system cannot be sent to the YÖKSİS Alumni System. Our graduate students can check whether they are included in the YÖKSİS Alumni System or not with their e-Government passwords. Equivalency of 4.00 and 100 Grading System
Q: How is the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) calculated?
A: Calculation of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA): A student's grades over “4” for all the courses they have taken since the first semester/year are multiplied separately with the credit hours of these courses. The results obtained are summed up and divided by the sum of the credit hours of all courses. The result is rounded off to the second digit after the decimal number. This result is defined as AGNO.
Q: How is the equivalent of the General Grade Point Average (AGNO) in the 100 system determined?
A: With the decision of the Senate of our University dated 11.07.2014 and numbered 259, it was decided to use the conversion table created by the Council of Higher Education to determine the equivalents of the grades in the 4th system to the 100th system.

Q: I don't know my student e-mail password - I forgot it. How can I access it?
A: The password of the e-mail address with the extension ogr.ktu.edu.tr given to the students is determined from the Change E-Mail Password section on the bys.ktu.edu.tr link. When determining the password, please make sure that it is 8 characters long and that the password contains at least 1 number, at least 1 uppercase letter, and at least 1 lowercase letter.
