General Information

The Department of Public Administration was established in 1992 and started education and training in 2000-2001 academic year. The department has four departments: political and social sciences, management sciences, legal sciences, urbanization and environmental problems. The department, which started education and training with a limited faculty staff, today serves with 4 professors, 5 associate professors, 4 doctoral faculty members, and 6 research assistants, one of whom is in the staff of the Institute of Social Sciences.


Major courses taught in our department

In the public administration program, courses on politics and social sciences, management sciences, urbanization and environmental problems, political theories, history of political thought, the phenomenon and origin of the state, political power, political regimes, constitution, law are taught.


Required Qualifications

Those who want to work in this field should have a superior general academic ability, be able to express their thoughts in writing or orally, be interested in sociology, psychology, logic, philosophy and history and be well educated in these fields. In addition, managers who work in constant interaction with the public and higher authorities are expected to have a sound logic, the power of persuasion, and the ability to perceive the causes of human behavior.


Titles and Occupations of Graduates

Those who have graduated from the public administration departments of universities receive titles such as "District Governor", "Inspector", "Administrator" according to their position in the institution they work for.

The public administrator working in the state sector ensures that the laws and orders sent by the government to be implemented are communicated to the relevant departments and that they are implemented; checks whether there is wrong and incomplete implementation, listens to the wishes and complaints of the public, and refers them to the relevant places. In particular, public administrators such as governors and district governors are responsible for the security, economic and social development of their provinces and districts.

Graduates working as managers in the management units of other public and private organizations ensure the implementation of laws and regulations, supervise other personnel in this regard, in short, apply the principles of management science in the institution where they work.


Fields of Study

Public administration graduates can work in administrative positions in all ministries, especially in the Ministry of Interior; they can work at various levels of the management mechanism in the private sector.

The aim of the public administration program is to train the staff responsible for the economic and social development of the system at various levels of the state organization and to conduct research on this subject.

Exchange Programs
Student exchange programs at our university are carried out by the Exchange Programs Coordinatorship of the Foreign Relations Office. Exchange programs provide our students with the opportunity to receive education and internship opportunities in Turkey and abroad. Within the Exchange Programs Coordinatorship:

Graduates and Employment

Graduates and Employment
Graduates work as managers in the management units of all public and private organizations. In addition, in all public organizations, they work in inspection boards or similar audit units, which are also called staff units, which assist managers with their specialized knowledge. Some of the graduates also work in the private sector as audit staff in the inspection boards of companies, especially banks, just like in the public sector. A group of graduates continue their careers as lecturers in universities. Some graduates, albeit a small number, are actively involved in politics.
