  • General Information

The faculty provides modern health education, research, and service in a total of 43 departments, of which 10 are in the Department of Basic Sciences, 20 in the Department of Medical Sciences, and 13 in the Department of Surgical Sciences. In addition, 36 fields of specialization exist under these departments.

The Faculty of Medicine is an important health center in the region with its approximately 70 000 m2 closed area, 800 beds, and KTU Farabi Hospital, which has Turkey's largest Emergency Service Building.

The Faculty of Medicine has given 5585 physicians and 1751 specialists so far with its up-to-date education in the field. In addition to undergraduate education, The Graduate School of Health Sciences has graduated 129 doctorate and 322 master’s students.

  • Educational Environment

KTU Farabi Hospital, which is used as a practice hospital in the education of the faculty of medicine, is one of the most important health institutions in the Eastern Black Sea Region. In addition to this 800-bed hospital, students in the faculty of medicine are also instructed in Community Health Centers, Gynecological Diseases Clinic in the Kanuni Training and Research Hospital, and non-institutional health institutions such as Graduate School of Forensic Medicine.

For educational purposes, there are 4 lecture halls, 14 classrooms, an informatics laboratory, and 4 clinical internship classrooms in the hospital block. In addition, 2 multidisciplinary, 1 Physiology, and 2 Anatomy laboratories and Good Medical Practices and Medical Simulation Center are located in the common use of Basic Sciences.

In the Clinical and Professional Skills Active Learning Center, there are 4 Activity Rooms for Learning Based on Team Work, 1 Activity Hall for Continuing Professional Development Training, 1 Medical Skills Practice Laboratory, Objective Structured Clinical Exam Center with 6 Stations, and 1 Patient Simulator Room.

There are three study halls for our students in the faculty of medicine, and internet access is available in all education areas with the “eduroam” infrastructure. The university library serves students and faculty members with 116,660 printed, 3925002 e-books, and 62348 journals written in Turkish and foreign languages.

Besides MEDSIM - Good Medical Practices and Medical Simulation Center is included in the curriculum to increase students' clinical skills. The 250-bed Children's Hospital, which is under construction, will also be used as a training area for students.
