TIME MANAGEMENT
Time management ensures quality and efficient living. For students, effective use of time allows them to have sufficient time for studying, sleeping, and social activities. It is natural for someone who does not have time management skills to have a high level of anxiety and to complain about failures. However, good planning enables students to find time to study, have fun, and rest.
TIME SCHEDULING
To prepare a to-do list
Sometimes you can end up watching TV, chatting with someone, making long phone calls, reading a magazine or a book, or walking at the time of important responsibilities. Let's assume that you are interested in these activities before your most important exam or one day before your homework submission.
What happens next?
You may feel intense anxiety, loss of self-confidence, disappointment, and guilt and have unproductive studies. Poorly-planned time can cause you to spend more effort and trouble on the things you need to do. Instead, arranging the things in order of importance will be more useful.
How to ensure time management?
Make a daily to-do list. Writing down allows you to see more clearly what to do. The list you create should start with the most important things you plan to do for the day. When choosing the most important tasks, consider not the ones you enjoy the most but the ones that are your responsibility. While determining the least important ones, consider activities that will not affect the flow of your life for the day or in the long run. After determining what to do for that day, you can give numbers starting from 1 in order of importance. The most important thing here is not to miss any number. What to do if the following activities are on the list: payment due, reading a magazine, chatting with friends, eating, phone calls, homework submission the next day, watching TV, going to the movies, etc.?
Asking for help and saying no
You may ask for help from your family or friends when you are too busy. They can help you with tasks that do not require appearance in person but are important to do. You may request assistance for activities that you do not know well. If something is requested from you before a very important task, something disrupting your own task, say no.
To make a long-term list
Making a long-term list is essential for time management. This list should include three groups: life-long goals, one-year goals, and monthly goals. In each group, make a list of goals from most important to trivial ones. An example is given for life-long goals:
Life-long goals _____________
Most important goals__________
Less important goals ____________
Trivial goals_____________
In each of these groups, it is better to work on the most important goals. Try to look over your progress on a monthly basis. Each month, make a new list on which your goals and their importance can change. The point is to be able to check your time management.
