The Erasmus+ programme is an exchange programme that enables university students to study in European countries. At the same time, it provides full-time staff at the university with the opportunity to study or teach abroad.
The programme, which continued under the name of LLP Erasmus between 2007-2013, has started to continue under the name Erasmus+ since 2014 by gathering all other programmes supported by the European Commission under its roof.
During the LLP Erasmus period, Turkey was only engaged in student or staff exchange activities with European Union member states. One of the most significant differences in the Erasmus+ period is that Turkish universities will now be able to exchange with candidate countries of the European Union or other European countries that are not candidates or members of the European Union. In addition, the fact that exchanges will be made with partner countries located in regions outside Europe determined by the European Commission draws attention as the other most important innovation.
Mobility activities under the Erasmus+ programme are defined as follows:
1) Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Learning: Within the scope of the mobility of students, a study period or study at a partner university abroad
2) Erasmus+ Student Internship Mobility: Within the scope of the mobility of students, internship in a company or any related workplace abroad
3) Erasmus+ Staff Teaching Mobility: Teaching periods within the scope of staff mobility
4) Erasmus+ Staff Training Mobility: Training periods within the scope of staff mobility
