TÜBITAK 1004 Program unites Industry, University and Public Sector

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) has brought together the forces of industry, university, and the public sector through the 1004 Program. The aim of this program is to enable universities to specialize and become centers of excellence by collaborating with Industrial R&D and Design Centers and Public R&D Units and to transfer the products and technologies they develop to the private sector. As part of this effort, the experience sharing and promotion ceremony of the 20 high-tech platforms that have qualified for support was held with the participation of the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr Mustafa VARANK.

The rectors and vice-rectors of the universities entitled to be included in the High Technology Platforms and public and private sector executives attended the ceremony, where the projects carried out by the platforms were introduced.

In the 1004 High-Tech Platform, which is seen as one of the most important tools in the process of competing in our country's National Technology Move, relevant stakeholders come together and join forces to work in high technology for priority areas within the framework of the Development Plan. The platforms, where technology roadmaps are also prepared, include universities, and public and industrial organizations that are considered competent in their fields.

The 1004 Program, which includes not only the production of knowledge and high technology but also the dimensions of societal contribution, human resource development, and international collaboration, stands out from other TÜBİTAK support programs. Our university has earned the right to participate in two high-tech platforms in this platform, which is defined as the focus of output and impact, leading the change and transformation in our country's science, innovation, and technology ecosystem. These are the Research Program of Innovative and Sustainable Applications in Aquaculture within the Framework of Food Supply Security (coordinated by Prof. Dr İlhan ALTINOK, Faculty Member of Sürmene Faculty of Marine Sciences) and the Research Program of Targeted Pan-Cancer Therapies (PAN-TER) Platform (coordinated by Prof. Dr F. Sena SEZEN, Director of the Center for Application and Research in Pharmaceuticals and Pharmaceutical Technology).
