A 'Higher Education Cooperation Protocol' was signed between Karadeniz Technical University and Gambia University
An official visit was made to Gambia under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan, a member of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE). The delegation included Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, Rector of our University, Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, Rector of Ankara University, Prof. Dr. Tuğba Ensari, Vice Rector of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tevfik Zeyrek, Vice Rector of Middle East Technical University, and Serdar Raşit Alemdar, General Director of Middle East Technical University TEKNOKENT.
The delegation attended meetings with ministry bureaucrats and university representatives and held important consultations on higher education. After the consultations, a cooperation protocol was signed between the University of Gambia and KTU.
Within the framework of the protocol, decisions were taken regarding conducting joint research and development projects, encouraging student exchange, providing scholarships through national scholarship resources, taking initiatives in the exchange of academic and administrative staff, and realizing joint publications. The protocol, signed by the parties on the basis of the principles of equality and mutual benefit, was considered an important step towards increasing international cooperation based on the sharing of knowledge and experience in the field of higher education.
This cooperation of Karadeniz Technical University with Gambia will make a significant contribution to the goal of strengthening relations between Türkiye and Gambia in the field of education. Together with representatives from other universities in the delegation, joint efforts to increase the exchange of information and academic cooperation between countries were supported. These initiatives offer a positive perspective for the further development of the higher education sector in both countries and increase opportunities for young generations to study internationally.
Within the framework of the higher education program, a meeting was held with Prof. Dr. Pierre Gomez, Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology of Gambia. Minister Gomez mentioned that they had paid an official visit to Türkiye in the past months to benefit from Türkiye's experience in the field of higher education and expressed his satisfaction with the return visit by the Turkish delegation.
